Frequently asked questions
Is Base64 secure encryption?
No. Base64 only turns data into text so it can travel by email or sit inside code. Anyone can decode it, so never use it to hide passwords.
Why is the Base64 string longer than the file?
Base64 uses 4 characters for every 3 bytes, so it is about a third longer. Avoid embedding large images in a page as Base64.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
