When should I use PNG and when JPG?
PNG suits logos, screenshots and images that need a transparent background. JPG suits colourful photos and is much lighter than PNG.
Why does the transparent background change colour in JPG?
JPG has no transparency, so those areas must be filled with a colour. Pick the same colour as the page background the image will sit on.
